At the beginning of February 2021, the Government of the Republic of Benin proceeded to the official handing over of the site of the Special Economic Zone of Glo-Djigbé to the technical partner in charge of planning and developing this zone. With an area of 1640 hectares it was created at the same time the previous year by the Government and is the culmination of a process that began with the enactment of the law establishing the regime of Special Economic Zones in the Republic of Benin in 2017 and the signing of a partnership agreement with the ARISE Group in November 2019 for the planning, development and operation of this zone. Thanks to this zone, Benin will be able to become an industrial hub that can ensure the processing of agricultural products such as cashew, cotton, shea, pineapple, soybeans, and many others and also will allow to capture in a much more important way the added value of Beninese agriculture.
