The project to develop and pave the Djougou-Pehunco-Kérou-Banikoara cotton road is a key part of the actions aimed at making the cotton sector in Benin more dynamic and competitive. However, the cotton-growing areas are landlocked, which severely handicaps the transport and evacuation of production for export because the Djougou-Pehunco-Kérou-Banikoara road serving them are unpaved and in a deteriorated condition. The duration of the implementation is four (4) years. At the strategic level, the project seeks to achieve the Government’s objectives in terms of economic growth by increasing cotton production in order to increase its contribution to GDP and to strengthen regional integration.
