The development objective of the Local Government and Community Basic Social Services Project for Benin is to improve access to decentralized basic social services and social safety nets and to strengthen the social protection system.The project has three components, the first being the improvement of decentralized service delivery. The second component concerns social safety nets and social protection systems. This component will expand the safety net pilot project launched to complement the ARCH initiative by adding accompanying measures (training and support to micro-entrepreneurs) to encourage sustainable improvement in the livelihoods of beneficiaries. Finally, the third component is project management.
